Department of Health guidelines state that althogh ideally it's best to avoid alcohol during pregnancy, if pregnant women choose to drink, they should drink no more than 1 or 2 units a week (1 glass of wine or one or two units of spirits) and avoid becoming intoxicated.

By 12 weeks, the baby's major organs are all fully formed, and the most dangerous period for exposure to toxins has passed. The occasional drink is unlikely to damage the baby, although any more than this is not recommended.

At 12 weeks I don't think its safe, I believe within the first 3 weeks its fine. Although some doctors make it seem like its okay until you find out you're pregnant. But, in my opinion if you feel like its not safe don't do it. I hope that helps.

It's not safe for an unborn baby to drink alcohol. You can drink all you like next Christmas, this year, think of your child and give them a headstart in life with good health.

Provided you only have one now and again, it will not harm the baby. All you have to remember 1) Do everything in moderation.
2) Drink plenty of water.
3) Eat plenty fruit & veg.4) Don't forget your proteins and Iron.
5) And a really good tip, before going to bed each night give that belly a good rub with baby lotion and then as you get bigger with baby oil, it will stop you getting stretch marks.
6) But please do not smoke. Good luck with your baby . Sheila.

The WHO organisation recommend no alcohol at all during pregnancy, as do the health authorities in the US and Canada.

UK government guidelines state that the odd drink is safe, but why risk it? Is it very important to you to have one glass of wine?

It's really up to you, but remember that the average glass of wine is more than one unit, so don't have more than one glass.

The fetus is at its most vulnerable in the first 3 months. This is when the brain and nervous system are developing. It is not a good idea to drink in this time. I would avoid it all costs. If your workmates are good friends they will understand and not force you to drink. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT WILL NOT HURT THE BABY, IT WILL!

why would you want to do that?
im at the same stage of you and even the taste of wine makes me feel ill. a swig of beer i quite like but no more.

my dr said one glass a day is okay, my midwife however told me that reserach is still continuing and its related to casusing diruptive children or children with beahvioural problems. thats the last thing i want.
ultimately its your choice though.
do what YOU feel comfortable with....

just think you can drink as much as you want in june x

I would advise you not to. Moderate drinking in pregnancy is reported to be acceptable, i.e. one glass of wine or similar infrequently. At 12 weeks - I'd avoid it and try to thereafter. Honestly it's worth it!

you really should not drink when you are in the early stages. but red wine is good for the blood,so you could have a glass of that. just do not drink to much. remember baby.
