If one looks back in history, the first inhabitants of America were the British, the Spanish, and the Indians. Everyone else immigrated here via those two main countries. The Indians minded their own business and tended to their own without making any demands on the British for help of any kind. The others that immigrated over here fought the British for control of the various areas, that later became states, broke off alliances with Britain, changed from the British religious cultures, made them buy stuff produced here in America, etc. And you wonder why the British like Indians so much? No power struggle with them.

They occupied India for a very long time and did the same thing in that country that the U.S. did in Japan. (modernized certain areas), mixed cultures somewhat, and have a long-standing relationship.
