any pictures etc on the effects, that could shock him into being less selfish? I dont like him smoking but he chooses to, why should i have to suffer it also? i choose not to smoke. I know he will smoke in the living room if he thinks he can get away with it, i might be in the bedroom sleeping etc. He says he will quit if i get pregnant but to me that is just him saying my life isnt worth his consideration, only our baby. Even in the car he will open the window just a wee bit to let the smoke out and obviously it mainly stays in the car, he says its cold outside, i would much rather be cold than breathing it in. Are all smokers this selfish?

Ecioveht..So im laying it on with a trowel? Ha i wish i WAS exagerating but every word is true...but you are correct in questioning why i married him(as i usually went out with non smokers only)but you cant help who you love. At the start, he used to smoke outside all the time but as he got his feet under the table more, this is the result.

Dawne? Are you for real? So he is a free person and can do what he likes can he? Well depends on what you are talking about, certainly not smoking as it is a health risk to other people. Yes he can CHOOSE to not care about his own health but when foist it on others?? It is a SELFISH act!

I myself smoke, when I see kids around, I don't even exhale the smoke because i dont want kids to be around it.
Ask him to smoke outside the window or something,
just really try to get it to him that this is going to be his child too, and that you can have complications with your pregnancy if he doesnt have his habit outside of the house. If he smokes in the bathroom, then you should also consider on getting those plug in air freshiners, they really do work.
And also tell him it's not only damaging your lungs, but effects a baby's lung development, and can lead to childhood asthma, and anyone pregnant has an increased risk of they're children having attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
cigarette smoke is believed to be responsible for 115,000 miscarriages a year and 5,600 stillbirths.

Hello there, where are you based? I live in Australia, and all cigerettes have to have graphic photos on the front of them now, they are truely shocking pictures, of lip cancers etc. yes a lot of smokers are sometimes selfish, maybe take him to a hospital where someone is dying of lung cancer? although im sure the patient wouldnt like that. Maybe ring the anti smoking agency in your country, im sure they would be able to help you out with some shocking matieral. If you are in Australia, just ring the quit line and they will send all all you need to know :) Good luck.

Yes smokers are that selfish. If you want him to quit you can do something passive like offer to help him get started on a program to quit, don't just tell him to...discuss it with his doctor... don't jst demand a result .. offer him ways to get there. More aggrressively if he still won't try to quit..well how far are you willing to go... leave him? He is endangering your health as well as the baby's future... smoking by men can effect the successful of trying to conceive.. You may have difficulty conceiving because he is currenltly smoking.

No, I don't smoke in the house at all and I never would again, I go outside no matter what the weather is like and I feel like a right idiot standing in rain and cold for the sake of a cigarette but smoking in your house is horrible.

I'm sorry but your husband is a real jerk. Don't have a kid with this stinky dude. If he can't even NOT smoke in the house or the car, he will be no help when baby comes a long. Can't even respect you not wanting to smell smoke and you think he is going to change a diaper? Sorry girl he's a L O S E R!
P.S. He won't quit if you get pregnant! DUH!

But why moan now ?? You obviously married him knowing he smoked. Its not that easy to give up so try helping instead of nagging - that'll make him worse. He's not constantly blowing smoke in your face is he ?? He goes to the bathroom etc. maybe if you encouraged him a bit it may help. If you hate it that much why did you marry him knowing he likes to smoke - I can never fathom why women choose a man then spend years trying to change him - then when he changes they say he's not the man they married xxxx

Why would anyone with an ounce of decorum, smoke in the bathroom? this question seems a bit iffy to me; i mean she is laying it on with a trowel, and why did she fall for him in the first place? and then compound the issue by marrying the bloke. NAH!

Who's being selfish? Smoking never hurt anybody. Just because you choose not to smoke, doesn't mean your husband has too. you are the selfish one. why can't you see that. Thick in denial Huh. boy some women are just so dense. And if you didn't get it, my tongue is planted firmly in my cheek, only due to my gum cancer.

Smokers are just the most selfish ignorant individuals!
Dont be too hard on him, it's not easy to quit, he will only give up if HE WANTS TO, does he go into the bathroom to get away from the nagging lol
Maybe he should be more honest with you and say he has no intention of giving up.
good luck.
