there is, of course a chance for downs but did you know that the downs initial test is like 70% inacurate. my friends sister just had one done a few months ago and they called her at work and told her that her baby had downs. then she went back in for more testing and they said it was a false positive. the same thing happened to another friend. i think it's good that you didn't put yourself thru the stress. just be prepared for the possibility of downs.

I was 38 when I had my second baby. I opted not to have the tests, much to the annoyance of the hospital. I wouldn't have terminated the pregnancy anyway so I didn't see the point of worrying all the way through my pregnancy. How I looked at it was no one wants a blind of deaf child either but you can't test for that and it's something you just deal with if and when it happens. My son was perfect. Healthy little baby and I'm glad I didn't risk a miscarriage with the amnio. Don't worry, the stats are a lot lower than people would have you believe for a Downs baby. Good luck xx

My mum is 44 and my little sister in 18 months. She also opted out of the test and my sister turned out just fine! Some people want the test because they do not want to have a Down's baby. I wouldn't go for it. However your baby is, that's the way it was meant to be.
Good luck!

at 44 you'll be a better mother than at 24
as you will find your self more relaxed with your baby
sorry I've not had a pregnancy at 44 but...

Hun, that is ALLLL up to your intellect and physique. Females as ancient as 45 are having infants at the present time however i don't endorse ready too much past 33. I'm 30 and just opening to check out for my first. I for my part endorse dwelling out your 20's and having fun so that when the time comes, you lived the get together/single enjoyable life and are in a position to move on to the next section. I do know i am one hundred percentin a position cuz I've carried out a lot, now not all, however a lot of what I wanted to do and i'm just so over the bar/get together scene. My fave things to do now are spend time with household and have neighbors over for dinner and a tumbler or two of wine. Bout that point, you can understand you're capable. In the event you dread giving up your freedom, you're no longer capable. Fairly tho, who is ever fairly able to have youngsters? It is just some thing you do and be trained as you go, but you probably have the alternative of choosing, your coronary heart, mind, physique and soul will let you know when it can be time. I inspiration that was crap, but now that it is my flip, I totally feel in it cuz I suppose it day-to-day, i would like my youngster so unhealthy. You are going to to when your time comes.

of course what do you think happened to older pregnant women before amnio's the first scan at 10 to 12 weeks if you have them where you live they are here in Australia it is called nuchal translucency testing done by blood and ultra sound if these come back low risk you should be fine if you never had that done and are worried you could have it but don't leave it to late or it wont matter what the result is you will have no choice an upside to this test is that you will know the sex of the baby with 100% certainty good luck you should be fine but do whatever you think is best for you and your family

Lots of woman have healthy babies over the age of 40. Let me say though even if you were to have a baby with Down Syndrome it's not a death sentence it's just a different journey.
Enjoy your pregnancy and your baby when it's born and try not to worry.
