An object lesson is a lesson in which you use a specific object to convey what you wish to teach. Here's an example: you could teach a character lesson about honesty using a piece of thread (the object). Wrap the thread ONCE around your hand. Show the students that you can still break through the thread. Then wrap it around many times and show how it has strengthened and has bound your hand to the point that you cannot break the thread. Use the object (thread) to then explain that it is similar to when you tell a lie. One lie may seem manageable and you may not really notice it, but lies pile up and soon you are really in a jam.

Just an example. Object lessons are very memorable and because they are metaphorical, they get students thinking on a deeper level to make connections.

I hope this helped to explain what an object lesson is; all the best to you! :o)

An object lesson is something that serves as a practical example of a principle or abstract idea.

Basically it's a system used to teach someone about something else in a more in-depth, broken down to be better understood. Like a curriculum in a Sunday School group or Classroom.
