Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a circuit-switched telephone network system, designed to allow digital transmission of voice and data over ordinary telephone copper wires, resulting in better quality and higher speeds than available with analog systems. More broadly, ISDN is a set of protocols for establishing and breaking circuit switched connections, and for advanced call features for the user.
In a videoconference, ISDN provides simultaneous voice, video, and text transmission between individual desktop videoconferencing systems and group (room) videoconferencing systems.
DSL or xDSL, is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires of a local telephone network. DSL originally stood for digital subscriber loop, although in recent years, many have adopted digital subscriber line as a more marketing-friendly term for the most popular version of DSL, ADSL over UNE.
Typically, the download speed of DSL ranges from 128 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000 kbit/s depending on DSL technology and service level implemented. Typically, upload speed is lower than download speed for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and equal to download speed for Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL).
Advantages of DSL over ISDN and Modem connections
* No busy signals
* No idle time/dropped connections
* Always "On"
* Uses an existing line
* More affordable
* SPEED

Try looking it up on http://www.wikipedia.org
In short, ISDN connections are like an older form of DSL, although uses different technology. The average ISDN connection was about 128kbps, which was roughly twice as fast as the fastest dial-up connection. They were a great alternative 6-10 years ago to being stuck on dial-up, though were rarely found in residential homes due to its high cost.
ISDN is still around, but it's fading fast due to the rise of broadband internet connections (DSL, Satellite, and Cable) at a fraction of the cost.

ISDN:
*comes in two flavors, 64 Kbps and 128 Kbps
*ISDN utilizes copper wiring as well, but a special ISDN line must be installed at the customer’s location
DSL
*from 128Kbps to 1.5 Mbps
*utilizes the standard copper wiring already installed into businesses and homes, requiring no special line installation for service

ISDN - the speed of surfing net is only about 64kbps & the uploading & downloading speed is very poor, the line is busy(means ur phone is busy when u r doing net). the speed of surfing net is only about 64kbps & the uploading & downloading speed is very poor, the line is busy(means ur phone is busy when u r doing net), the translating speed of modem of translating the data is good. ISDN required a modem which is very cheap(RS.250-500) in market.
DSL - the speed of surfing net is about 256kbps & the uploading & downloading speed is very good(30-50kbps), the line is not busy(means ur phone is not busy when u r doing net), the translating speed of modem of translating the data is very good(10mbps). DSL required a special modem(also called as router), which is little expensive(RS.1000-Rs. 2000) in comparision to ISDN

ISDN speeds are 64k or 128k and are usually more expensive because you pay a per-minute cost.
ADSL is much faster, you're always online and you pay a monthly fee
