I have no fear of Arab people. It's religious people that scare me sometimes and not just Muslims. The Christian Evangelists can be pretty militant too.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

It is difficult to know if someone is an Arab just by looking at them. In America there are many ethnicities that exist. There are many Arab Americans, Persian Americans, and Americans that descend from just about anywhere..you can often see Muslim women wearing their traditional head scarves, and they are treated with the same respect as any other person. By the way I am in Los Angeles. But this is in public places..Im sure If you are vacationing and your passport is from a country in the middle east you would be scrutinized by customs and immigrations more so than someone else from another region...even though terrorist have come from other countries..Its just a reaction from what happened from the 9/11 attacks

Because of the terrorist attacks against America and Arabs not condemning those attacks publicly, but celebrating them in the streets, we are cautious. Is it unfair, probably but we have a saying here, 'better to be safe than sorry'. Until Arabs and other Muslims stand up do condemn all the violence that is being done in the name of Islam this trend will unfortunatly continue. However, most americans will judge each person upon thier actions and consider everyone good until they are proven to be otherwise. It is wrong to blame a ppl for the actions of a few.

As a whole I don't think Americans are afraid of anything. We have fought for our country with passion and love and sacrifice . So when anyone Arab, German, Japanese,Russian, whatever, gets in our face like Bin Laden did on 9/11, we no longer can look at that race without remembering what they have done to us. And as a Nation we have been far to lenient about immigrants, and it has gotten us plenty of grief. We all would like to live in a perfect world, but lets face it. This is a world of little men, big egos and shear stupidity sometimes. The little man on the street must always be wary now. United we Stand, Divided we Fall

In all predominately English speaking nations I reckon It would be fair to say travellers of a middle-eastern ethnic appearance would, at airport security, face closer scrutinisation than someone of purely caucasian appearance. Further information... Arabs are not portrayed as terrorists, same as all Muslims, unfortunately, if you are of middle - eastern origin you are classified as being in a group of people suspect as to your intentions to enter a country. I think it's a case or erring on the side of caution, by those countries directly affected.

I would love to say that i am a good person that does not stereotype, but i cant in may was the 1st time i had gotten on a plane since 9/11 and i walked past an Arab man on my way to my seat, i panicked i was so scared and i felt bad for feeling that way but i did. before this i would have said that its not a big deal but now i know better for SOME of us its hard to separate the 2.

Not all of us. One of my oldest friends is from Arabia...

Problem is that a lot of americans blame Middle eastrners for the price of oil and for much of the worlds ills. And the current political climate that isn't likely to change...anyone that even LOOKS like they are from the Middle East are qutomatically thought to be some sort of terrorist and most dont bother to find out any more than that...
