there is a movie called running on empty with river phoenix.....it its not the one you mean, check it out anyway....it is really good

There was a the movie mentioned, of course, with River Phoenix.
The song 'Running On Empty' came out in the late 70s and was a big hit for Jackson Browne, from his album of the same name (running on empty). I don't know about any girls ever singing it though...lol I wish I could help you find the movie with the quote you're looking for. I even checked the IMDB and I just feel like I'm running on empty here ;-)

Not sure. There's a movie called "Running on Empty" starring the late River Phoenix. It's been a long time since I've seen that movie, so I'm not sure if there's a quote in it with the phrase "running on empty."

I never seen or heard of any movie by the name of "running on empty". But I heard before a song with the lyrics of "running on empty" and I think it is sang by a girl or girl group.
