Great effects, characters, cast, score, very true to the books,
Otherwise any movie that Starts with a shot of Stars is usually amazing. Most of my top 100 go that way. Return to Oz does too.
Or movies that start with a storm, like my number two (Clue) and number three (Labyrinth).
I don't know why, but somehow I always enjoy any movie that starts off either way...

Being Julia. In spite of the 'period' appearance of the movie, it's so thoroughly enjoyable for the sharp wit and the fact that you end up rooting for the narcissist who gets very, very delicious revenge. If nothing else, watch it for the superb performance by a great cast.

Little Miss Sunshine
When I went to this movie I only went as my group of friends were going to see it .. but it totally exceeded my expectations. The most funny and witty film I have ever seen. You also got really attached to the characthers despite their individual antics and problems. A real heart warmer!!

The Sound of Music is one and I can't help but like the Whoopi Goldberg movie about the nun,,,"Sister Act...those two are good but I have so many movies that I like hard to say just one is my favorite...

Not Without My Daughter (starring Sally Field)
Totally worth my watching. Very moving.
Sally Field plays Betty Mahmoody, an american woman that married an Iranian in the US, only to go back to Iran being told by him that it would be a vacation, he decided to stay in Iran and virtualy had her as prisoner because she didn't want to stay.
