I have an ipod nano and know there are various ways to play it in the car but don't want to spend a ton of money, my car stereo does not have the new output for it and I live in San Diego where I imagine finding a free radio frequency might be tough. Any ideas, thoughts, new suggestions? Would love it if I could just control it from my radio dial.

Hi. I use a DLO Transpod, which also plugs into your cigarette lighter. You just tune your radio station into a frequency where there isn't already programming (88.5 works well for me, and I live in San Diego), stick your ipod in the Transpod cradle, and your ipod plays off of your car stereo. The Transpod charges while it plays so you don't have to worry about your ipod running out of juice. It's really easy to use and has good sound quality. I'd say it's CD quality. You can get one off ebay for about $60, or twice that if you get it off amazon. It's pretty cool. I recommend it.

There's this thing called an Idock and you plug it in to your lighter and you can play your ipod on the car speakers.
