I have heard that "Northern Mysteries and Magic" by Freya Aswinn is good, but I haven't read it. Check out sunnyway.com/runes, there is a lot of good information there.

I would recommend "Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic" by Edred Thorsson. If you are a purist, like myself, stay away from Ralph Blum as he made up a lot of the info himself. Lisa Peschel's book is also not all that good because she had gaps in her information and just used tarot info to fill in the blanks. "The Little Giant Encyclopedia of Runes" by Sirona Knight I found to be an excellent resource. Freya Aswynn is good but I have noticed that she puts a lot of her own opinions into her work including she changed the order of the last two runes. Also I found the link below to be a very good source of info about the Futhark (runes).

Hope this helps.

read the poetic edda, specifically havamal stanza's 138-165 & Sigdrifumal... the Hollander translation is the standard, but i prefer the Larrington translation. Freya Aswynn Has a correspondence course at her website http://www.aswynn.co.uk/
Her books are a very good, as are Swain Wodening (that is for the Anglo-saxon FUThORK, Edred Thorsson is excellent as well. DJ Conway... not so good, and Sirona Knight has plagiarised practically word for word from Freya Aswynn & Edred Thorsson. She was subsequently sued by Llewellyn publishing & lost her case... Avoid books on the runes that include a "blank rune" there is no such thing... The use of the "wyrd rune or fate rune" is a new age bastardiztion concieved by Ralph Blum...

Haven't helped...?

Why haven't they helped? Are you just not understanding something about their origins or meanings, or are you expecting some really dramatic ******** to happen just because you scatter them to a full moon on four or five separate occasions?

Which runes do you even mean, anyway? Futhark...?
