I went through high school in the UK in the early 80s and i was verbally bullied the whole time with occasional physically harm thrown in for good measure.
It destroyed my self confidence totally and still affects me 20 years on.
In those days bullying was not such an big issue as it is today so nothing was ever done.
It doesn't matter what school in what country you are in you will always get bullies. There will always be certain kids who for what ever reasons (often as a result of there own poor experience of life) will pick on another kid who the perceive to be different or week.

I was bullied. I screamed out different so kids don't usually take that in. It got bad, threats and getting hit by the bullies. They seemed to think, they had every right to.
My parents did not take the problems seriously, kept reacting with Cliche's which was absolutely annoying. "If they don't like you they are not worth knowing"
The teachers didn't care they looked the other way.
My friends were nice to me most of the times. But I prayed to God a lot so I think I got through it better off than if I had not prayed.
It did not kill me and I do feel stronger.

I believe there are bullies in all schools! There was little anyone did about a bully. Now day some states require that the police be called to deal with bullies, they may well be arrested now. Check with the school and check it out!

I have a 14 year old autistic son who was constantly being bullied. I pulled him out of public school a few weeks ago and I home-school him now. I believe that most, if not all, of the school shootings in American schools is caused by children being bullied constantly until they just snap. As long as parents and teachers turn a blind eye to this type of behavior and allow one person or group to consistently victimize another this problem will continue. For the record, my 14 year old son DID threaten to KILL several of the kids in his school if they didn't stop teasing, making fun of and calling him names. My decision to pull him out of school was to protect EVERYONE there. He is on medication, and has been for years. He also sees a psychotherapist regularly. People can only handle so much rejection, torture and hurt before they snap. Unfortunately American culture teaches our children that hurting those who are different or weaker is a form of entertainment. It only stops being entertaining to the other students when the victim strikes out in utter pain and frustration and does something drastic to stop the pain that is inflicted upon them daily.

In middle school, I was bullied A LOT. The school tried to put a stop to it....but I think they didn't really care because no one was getting physically hurt. My mom tried her hardest to call parents and alert them of what their children were doing to me. But it didn't work because the parents were morons like their kids.
Kids can be so damn mean. I'm 23 now and I STILL have grudges about middle school.

Teachers did jack for me to stop the bullying. They really didnt even really care that I was getting spit on target for people bringing water guns to school and shooting me with it saying that I am ugly that I am fat that I am worthless that I am not going to go anywhere in this life guys like that liked made fun of me and would run when they saw me I would get picked on and cry and they would make fun of me for crying jump roping they would pull the roll up between my legs and I would fall to the ground in pain while everyone stood around me laughing and then years later on of the guys who made fun of me saw me and they couldnt take there eyes off of me thank god for a little weight loss! as for my parents...when I came home crying they were hurting on the inside like me

bullying has always been and will always be there this is because there are kids who always want to be in control resulting in them manipulating and pushing others too far.
I was bullied once in my primary school by this big guy who used to take all my food and sometimes used to beat me up if i refused untill i reported the case to my teacher, and he was expelled.
