I always shave because it's the cheapest method, but I get black spots and red bums...very irritated. Heard about epilator, does it work on short hair, around 3mm? Will it make the hair finer when it grows out again? I'm thinking of the best way - Permanent removal..But it is usually very expensive and needs many sessions. However, I read from other forums and got this information:
Medical clinic @ Jurong East Central 65673003
IPL intense pulse light
For permanent effect:
- Underarms 3 sessions, each session @ $100 = $300
- Both legs 3 sessions, each session @ $400= $1200

Anyone tried it there? Is it true that only 3 sessions are needed to permanently remove the hair? I think the price is rather cheap.

No, 3 is actually way less than i was told when my friend and i went to ask. I think my friend went and did her underarms (hurts like a ***** and its super red after), she did 4 sessions and then she stopped because she couldn't afford it anymore. She did say that her hair is a lot softer, but she still has hair.

I haven't tried permanent hair removal, but like you i was a shaver and used to get nasty red bumps and crappy regrowth the very next day , until i bought my Braun Epilator, its the best thing i ever bought. It works so well even for the thickest of hair and yes you can use it on 3mm hairs too. you do get finer growth and i noticed this from the very first time i used it. i have been a shaver all my life up until 2 months ago and now i will never look back. its cheaper than shaving and buying all those razors and creams etc in the long run & the owch factor isnt as bad, you dont even feel it after the first time. good luck.

p.s: also find a link to an epilator question i answered earlier.

Epilators definitely work on 3mm hair (a benefit it has over waxing), but I've found that it works better with darker, thicker hairs (ahem), and not fine blonde hairs. My hair came back in finer, but it HURT!!!!

Permanent hair removal works better with darker hair rather than blonde hair.
