Its their way of making sure that you answer questions too instead of just asking them. If it costs you 5 then you gain back 3, and you lose 2, you make it up by answering a question or voting on best answers for unresolved questions.

you actually lose 3 points in the process but you ask questions to get answers and you answer questions to get points its a big circle

because of each and every of the stupid questions like "Oh, what's your prominent coloration?" or "what's you call?" It does make experience and has slowed the stupid questions. through the way it;s call Yahoo answeres no longer Yahoo Questions
