Black friday is the day after thanksgiving when all the stores drop the hell out of their prices. They have super huge sales that people get up and go shopping at like 5 in the morning.
For the stor it it the day of the year that they get out of "the red" and into "the black." Well I think that used to be it cause stores make ridiculous profit now a days.

The huge shopping day after Thanksgiving, when crazy people get up at 4 AM to shop for Christmas! It is called black friday because it is said that most businesses move from the Red ( being in debt) to the black (no debt) in that single day.

Industry lingo that has come to connote a sharp drop in the financial markets. The first Black Friday occurred on September 24, 1869. A group of financiers attempted to corner the gold market, which caused a panic and then an economic depression. The panic of 1873 also began on Friday.

It is the Friday after Thanksgiving, when everyone shops. Retailers have great deals but it is a huge hassle for people to be in line at 5am to try to get the deals before everyone else.
