There is no guaranteed way to have twins. I'm the mother of identical twins. Here's some thoughts:
1. Identical twins are from one egg that splits. It's a random act of nature and not impacted by age, family history, ethnicity or fertility drugs. ALL pregnancies have a 1 in 250 chance of being identical twins.
2. Fraternal twins occur when the woman produces two eggs and both are fertilized. It's more common in older women (women over 45 have a 17% chance of twins), you have an increased chance if there is a family history on the females side (but still no guarantee), it's more common in African Americans and less common in Asians and Hispanics.
3. Fertility drugs can increase your chances of twins (but not guarantee). However, fertility drugs must be prescribed by a doctor.
4. As a mother of twins I have to say that I never understand people who want so badly to have twins that they will consider taking fertility drugs that they don't need. Yes, twins are cute and fun to look at. But, they are alot of work, take alot of time, and cost about 3 times as much as one baby. Not only do you need two of almost everything, you also need special stuff like double strollers ($200 compared to $50 for a similiar single), etc. The divorce rate for parents of multiples is higher for a reason. I love my girls and they are completely worth the time and money but I wouldn't ever want to have twins again.

Why on earth do you want a high risk pregnancy? Do you not want a healthy baby?
Ignore all those who claim there are magic ways to produce twins. There is no evidence other than fertility drugs.
Hope for a healthy baby rather than twins.

Even if you have 2 embryos implanted, there is still no guarantee of twins. However, twins are much more risky than single births - far more chance of still birth, premature, maternal death etc. So even the fertility clincs are starting to just put in one embryo.

Nope, it depends on genetic family history. If your family has twins your chances are increased. Invitro can cause multiples but thats also never a guarantee.

i have twins and you are crazy, i don't know why everyone thinks it is so glamorous! i love my twins, but let me tell you that the pregnancy is horrible for most people, it isn't to much fun being on bed rest and horrible medicine to keep from having them to early, and then having them be in the nicu for weeks to months hooked up to a ventilator. you can take fertility drugs, but you better just pray god gives you what he wants to give you, twins or not. because having twins is not easy. not to mention i have a messed up pelvic bone and hip, that i had to go to physical therapy for for 6 months after having them, it is still messed up 21 months later.

No, nothing guaranteed. You can try invertro fertilization and hope more than one embryo sticks, but its not guaranteed and its expensive. Plus you could end up with more than 2.. or none. So its a gamble.

In vitro fertilization can boost the odds, but no, no gauranteed way. Odds are higher when twins run in the family and the older you are when you conceive.

You could go to a doctor, have the sperm and eggs extracted, put into a petri dish and then injected into your uterus, but it won't give you idenical twins and its still not guaranteed.
