Not knowing what model of printer, I'd say no, you don't have a compatability problem - you have a driver problem.
Go to Lexmark's websight and find the latest driver for the operating system you are using. They are free to download, and should be self-installing.
Lexmarks are good printers - and I'm not just saying that because I worked for them for a year, either! I have a 5700 at home, and it's been working fine with 3 different computers for over 6 years.

My wager is you've purely offered a sparkling pc that does no longer have the older LPT1 printer port that takes the older printer cable. that is the former large multi pin printer connector. at the moment's printers use USB connectors and at the moment's maximum modern desktops will in straight forward words enable you to to connect making use of the USB connection. unhappy ingredient is a few of my prominent printers are 2 older HP printers I truly have in the storage and would no longer use them for this very reason. Sorry my chum yet you'll favor to purchase a sparkling printer. there's a fashion out in case you want this printer. bypass to a mom and pa pc fix position and ask them in the journey that they're going to set up an LPT1 connection on your previous printer. The bummer information is both the hot printer and having the hot connection put in for the former printer will fee about an same. on the different hand, it really is accessible that it truly is any incorrect way round and also you're searching for the LPT1 port on you printer in which case it really is an USB port fairly and that is your problem. until eventually you're operating a pre ATI pc (which I exceedingly doubt) there'll be a USB connection on your pc, purely seek for it in decrease back. examine less than the mouse and keyboard connections maximum desktops have a minimum of two USB ports there.

I have a compaq & bought the lexmark x3470 printer, i had the same problem, so I comepletely unplugged, unhooked & uninstalled the printer software. then,I reinstalled it, also, make sure your USB Port is plugged into the top portion of your plug-in (some have that small seperator). Mine has been working great ever since.

Keep the printer--get a new computer!
I would be willing to bet that the printer isn't your problem!
Make sure you are loading the right driver.
Make your question more detailed--you will get a better answer!

Printers are compatible with any computer. You have a driver or interrupt problem.

generally, the name of the printer and the name of the computer have nothing to do with compatiablity of working together with a printer or any of computer hardware componet, if your computer froze it could be anything, not enough system resources to run the printer, irq conflict, your system could have a virus, if you are running windows millineum it could cause it to freeze, your file system could be corrupt, and i could go on and on.
