A better question is where does the money go?

How much do billets get?

How much is available for kids who go on to post secondary education?

How much do the owners get on the backs of kids making $50 a week?

The CHL salary cap is from $8,500 a week to $10,000 a week for an 18-man roster with a maximum of four veteran players (players with more than 280 pro games).
In the ECHL the weekly salary cap is $10,850 and the weekly salary floor is $8,100 for the same requirements like the CHL.
Teams are required to pay rookie players a minimum salary of $330 per week and returning players a minimum salary of $360 per week. A returning player is classified as a player who appeared on a team’s season-ending or playoff roster or who has played in 25 or more professional hockey games.
