5x+8+3x-5=6x-3
8x+3=6x-3 (combine like terms)

There is no formula as such. Just put the variables of the like terms one side & the numbers on the other side of =
Then solve.But be careful with the signs. SIgns play a very important role in deriving the correct answer.
Question : 5x+8+3x-5=6x-3
Ans : put all the x terms one side & numbers on the other side.
so, while putting, + becomes - & -becomes+
i.e.,
5x+3x-6x = -3 -8
x(5+3-6) = -(3+8)
x (2) = -11
x = -11/2
x = -5.5

2x+3=-3
Subtract 3 on both sides:

put all x terms on one side and the other terms in other side
Remember when positive(+) term goes to other side it becomes negative(-)
and viceversa
so
5x+3x-6x=-3+5-8
2x=-6
since the negative sign terms when added it gives greater number than the plus sign terms
-ve sign is to given to the added terms
x=-6/2
x=-3

You merge similar values. Any value thats moving over an equal sign changes from positive to negative and vice versa

-3, there is no "formula" merely a process. add like terms. 8x+3=6x-3, then make the variables on the same side, 2x=-6, then divide by 2 and get -3
