What monitor is better for gaming widescreen or regular? I am thinking about buying new 19" LCD monitor but I am not sure which one is better for gaming. I never played games on widescreen so I am not sure.

wide screen is better for movies. if your games dont support wide screen your window will form to the game you will have a black line on either side. which ever you get make sure its high resolution and has a high refresh rate of like 10ms or better 8 is just about right for most people. you could try a high resolution flat screen CRT. make sure your video card can support the resolution you want and the refresh frequency's and use a DVI cable instead of svga for a LCD for bes picture.

For the ultimate gaming experience, go for widescreen. Remember though, a 20" widescreen is actually gonna be shorter in height than a 19" regular so you will have to go larger for more space (obviously). If you like racing games or something that doesn't require you to use the full view, the regular screen will be fine. If you like First-person Shooters (FPS) than you will find more use from the widescreen.

It doesnt matter widescreen or regular. Get a 18 - 20 inch screen with atleast a 8m/s response time. If the response time is higher then 8m/s you will get ghosting in your games, and you dont want that.

depends on whether the games you like to play support the widescreen resolution. If the games don't support that resolution, it'll just stretch it and you'll get distorted graphics. If your games do support widescreen resolutions, then you'll get a wider field of vision and it'll be very much worth it.
