You know, I cannot think of a perfect end to that phrase. However, the closest correct answer that I can come up with is: Woody Guthrie is to Bob Dylan as Neil Young is to Bruce Springsteen.

I want you to know that, for me, this is the most thoughtful question that I have ever read on this site. I absolutely love Bruce. I especially love his version and story behind Woodie Guthrie's version of "this land is your land," (is that the actual name of that song...I'm not sure...that's how Bruce has it listed anyway.)

Obviously, you are a huge Bruce fan. What is your favorite Bruce song? Which song has touched you the most? For me, it's hard. Bruce is inspirational to me. "The River" "Thunder Road" "Racing in the Streets" "Independence Day" and so many others mean so much to me.

What is your answer to this question. Why do you think is carrying on this legacy?

Holla at me!

the closest answers are myriad because of his wide influence--Bono certainly; Micheal Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies; John Mellancamp; Steve Earle people like that. But the next torch bearer may still be very young and just starting out. John Mayer? time will only tell, but that page isn't done being written yet. Most of the above answers are crapola. btw, Dylan actually grew up really loving rockabilly and rhythm and blues--check the influences on his last 2-3 albums. They aren't Guthrie

John Hiatt...I was gonna say Pete Seeger...but he would be to Bruce as to...well, you know what I mean..I guess Seeger came first..but I think the Beaver Brown band that did the soundtrack songs for the movie, Eddie and the Cruisers, surely were influenced greatly by Bruce Springsteen, just listen to the song, On the dark side..it really sounds like a Springsteen song...
