Yes, I've been. I like it enough to move back at the beginning of the year to teach English there. It's full of contradictions. It's wonderful yet awful. It's full of stern people yet some of the most accommodating hosts. The people come off as cold but oftentimes are quite emotional. It's exciting, scary, magical, mysterious, mystifying and never boring. You should definitely visit if you're up for an adventure. You can read a bit about my time in Russia on my LJ page under user nominals. :)

I've been all over Russia (Vladivostok, Khaborovsk, Yekaterinberg, Tymen, Tobolsk, Perm, Kazan, Volgograd, Novgorod, Petersburg and Moscow). I absolutely adore Russia but as for Moscow, I only go there when I have to, ie. to catch a flight or train to the rest of Russia. Moscow is too big, busy, dirty and stressful for me to stay in too long and I'd hate to live there. There are much better parts of Russia than Moscow.

Yes, and no. Moscow was a lot like St. Petersburg (Leningrad),...it was a big city, but without the big city feel. It had a very somber atmosphere...seemingly desolate in the markets and other public arenas. The metro/bus systems were unbelieveably dreary. Getting into one of those cars felt like you were stepping on a bus that was taking you to prison. Also, being in a city like Moscow, you would think its history would envelop you and make your visit a memorable experience. Yet, besides the lingering architecture of the past centuries, the history of Moscow is not paraded or exhibited. In other cities, like Paris, Seville, Lisbon and others, the history of the city is put forth and displayed; most prominently for tourists to get the optimum experience. Moscow infortunately, does not place the same emphasis on thrilling and educating tourists with their city's history.

Yes I have been to Moscow. It is a great place to have a rest or fun. Although it is not a cheap one. It is better to visit Russia in summer.

Yes, and yes.
I normally don't like really big cities, but Moscow is pretty easy to get around, and the Metro is just unbelievable. Plus, I find history very interesting, and so I was like a kid in candy store.
