Connect your iPod to your new computer. iTunes will ask you if you want to sync all your songs, click on no. Guessing that you have the latest iTunes version, find the name of your iPod on the left panel. There, on summary uncheck the box that says 'only sync check items' and chech the one that says 'manually manage music and videos'. That'll do it.

Hope this helps.

Just to let you know... I don't know exactly where. But plug your ipod into the other computer, and then in the prefences or somewhere you can select it so it doesn't automatically change out your songs, there is a selection you can click on to make it music adding manual. i just dont know where off hand.

then there is a program that allows you to rip songs from your ipod to your computer... gotta look into that

sorry i couldnt be of any more help, but those 2 things i mentioned are in fact correct.

You can't put your music from your ipod onto another computer. What you need to do is keep a backup of all your mp3s so that when your computer breaks, its easy to get all your mp3s back. You can just burn a lot of them on a disc as a data burn instead of as a music cd.
