Because when a person creates an aviator, it's a reflection of them, so why not dress your aviator like you.

Cause an avatar suppose to be a small type of picture not really a full size like showing your full body, from top to bottom, then it would be too small to see it. So they just show the top part ( the head )

Aviator lol. I put clothes on my avatar so that she can look pretty. I can see her when I click her picture in my email section.

You can't see them here on Yahoo! Answers, but in Messenger, you can zoom out on your avatar so that people can see them.
I use the clothing to represent my personality. Mismatched, and quirky, but cute.
