I mean, obviously the Democrats and Republicans are never going to change. They both voted for the war, they both think they own us and can tax us in every way, they both violate our freedoms. So why do Americans still gullibly re-elect these people?

I have been a supporter of the LP , however I think most voters dont realise they exoist or think that they stand a chance of being elected so they vote for what the believe is the lesser of 2 evils

Well, here is the problem. I vote for the best candidate that has a feasible chance of winning. I have seen some Libertarian candidate where I have agreed witht their platform but they had no realisitc chance of winning. The question I pose back to you: Why would I throw away my vote on someone who will never win??

Because the Libertarians are unrealistic isolationists that would turn the U.S. into a pseudo-Christian version of Somalia if they ever came into power.

Not that it doesn't have its upsides (Puntland's deregulated telecommunications network is the best in all of sub-saharan Africa, and everybody loves legalized pot). I support pro-market Democrats and secular Republicans, which technically makes me a libertarian. But the party itself is full of infrastructure-hating nutjobs and foreign policy daydreamers.

Oh, and we have a winner-take-all system, which means I'd be wasting my vote.

I think people are incredibly intimidated by how unregulated everything would be if a Libertarian was elected into any seat of government.

Yes, I think conservatives like the economical stance of Libertarians, but the social stance is a bit extreme for most to swallow.

Because there is the pervasive feeling in America that a vote for a 3rd party is a wasted vote. I like the Libertarian party, and if they actually had a chance, I'd vote for them. But because its a wasted vote...hell, I have to stick with one of the 2 parties

Because people dont like the Libertarian parties principles, It's ideology is just unrealistic, not to mention they are going farther and farther away from the average person every day.

Nicholi has your answer. Dems may be the lesser of two evils, but their overall record does the average joe more good than the atrocious actions of every Publickend candidate. Sorry my friend, your choices are that limited.

In some cases (such as, for example, the Colorado governor's race), it's because the LP candidates are batshit crazy.

Because its a two party system so get down with the party that supports your side the most or you are just wasting time.
