OK it's only nearing the end of Day 1 2nd Test Adelaide, but what do you reckon - can the visitors pull it off on this surprisingly slow pitch, with their sedentary run-rate?

G'day Robin M,

Thank you for your question.

They are in a position to put a big score on the board at 3-256 as I type. Pieterson and Collingwood are looking good.

The problem they might have is taking 20 wickets. They may regret leaving Panesar out given that the pitch is offering more to the spinners than the pacemen.

Regards

Too early to predict the outcome of the 2nd Test. At stumps on 1st day, England is happily placed at 266 for the loss of 3 wickets. From this position they can avoid defeat if they do not bat poorly in 2nd innings.

I don`t think so.Last year England had a much better bowling attack and Simon Jones and Freddie were on a roll. But this time they don`t have Simon who was very efficient with his letal reverse swing. Also England`s batting order is not strong as it was last year.To add to their woes Ricky Ponting is in good form for Australia.

they are looking good....collingwood was rock solid...and peterson's lookin good too.....but then the point remains with that incredible batting line up that the aussies have got....how much could the english manage to feel secure....??

the english attack never looked like taking wickets in the 1st test... i dun think they could improve much on that.....so to me the best possible result they could manage is a Draw...
