My husband was just found disabled. How long befor he stats recieving any benifiets?

If he was determined disabled by SS and has been approved by them for benefits,then about 30-60 days for your first check.
If he has only been determined disabled by the doctor and hasn't been approved by SS,then the process to get approved by them could take years.

From what I understand, the process begins once the application has been submitted. It goes on for several months (six or eight), and eventually the person gets a check.

The check would be retroactive to some time around the date the application was filed, so the person gets one big check in the beginning for all the months he was waiting for the process to get completed.

He will have to be determined to be disabled for more than six months.........then the waiting starts. Contact your favorite US Senator from your state and have them keep an eye on your case. For some reason it seems to move faster.
