Hums while engine on. Is it due to low power steering fluid?

Possibly your PAS fluid is low look for the PAS pump reservoir its on the right hand side looking at the car from the front remove the cap it has a dipstick attached level should be above the min mark.This could also be your air con pump with noisy bearings.Own and work on Audi Regards MIck UK>

If it's a whining pressure like noise then check your power steering fluid. If it's a clicking noise check your CV Axles . If the power steering fluid is fine it could just be a loose or worn belt. Give a better description of the sound.

Sounds like PAS check the level but make sure you put the right oil in aswell as could cause seal damge, for a 04 you would use the green stuff GOO2000.

Most likely it is power steering fluid. Get it checked soon to see where the leak is. If you wait to long you may ruin the pump.

check you power steering hose for leaks DO NOT run it dry
