It's okay! Even pre-cancerous cells can clear up on their own or with a short series of treatments. Abnormal pap results are common. They can even occur because you had sex 24 hours prior to the pap exam. When you go in for your second exam, refrain from sex or inserting anything into your vagina for at least 24 hours. You might find that you're okay. Also, some vaginal infections such as BV are not sexually transmitted, but can cause abonormal pap results. Also, infections like clamydia can be easily treated with a single dose of oral antibiotics, so if it happens that you've got an STI, just be glad you caught it early, so that you can get rid of it without any complications.

By now you should have been and had a second check. If not, do it ! I had an abnormal smear, unfortunately my files got mislaid in the doctors office, and 2 months later when I went to see him for something else, he found my notes, and told me I should have had another scan. Long and short of it was, I had a hysterectomy. If I had gone immediately, it might not have got so far advanced. As in all cancers, get it seen to quickly. And maybe it isnt what you thought it was. Good luck.

This has happened to me several times. It could be stress, human palpaloma virus (HPV), or some other infection throwing your PAP off. I wouldn't worry. Your next reading will probably be fine. Your body just needs time to get over whatever set your PAP off in the first place.

It is very, very important that you do what your doctor tells you...GO IN like he Told you to.DO NOT mess around with this...You could have displaisia which is precancerous cells, HPV, Which can come up if you have had Displasia in the past and no having HPV does not always mean that is was sexually transmitted...talk to your doctor ask all the questions on your mind..as a matter of fact write them down right now and ask him the Qs when you see him. Its also very important for you to write down what he tells you so you can remember but you can relay the info back to your boyfriend, it also helps so you can look up info for it. AND do not have sex until it is all taken care of no matter what the results are.

i would go and get it done. I have had several that were abnormal. One was pre cancerous cells that i had to have removed. You dont want it to turn inot cancer which it can. It is a simple surgery that is outpatient and does not take long at all. The other ones were normal the second time. error on the side of caution!

And if the 2nd one is abnormal, your doctor will do a procedure that is a biopsy of your uterus; its called.... starts with a C.. I have had it; just a little pinch, you will be ok. Take Care..;))

My guess is pre cancerous cells, which is caused by a STD. Are you sure your boyfriend has been faithfull to you in the past year?
