Does anyone know how i can go to school in the states? i am canadian with a GPA of 3.6. I know of all the student visa's and stuff, can i still get financial aid and stuff? i'm frustrate cuz i am going no where with this and i wanna get on with my life. my fiance is going to kuwait soon and i wanted to go to school while he was gone to kinda take my mind off of him being there.....i really really need help. I would want to study design of some sort...

no, you can't get financial aid since you are not an american and do not pay taxes to support american universities. now, if you already have a degree and are seeking a phd, that changes things. you can get fully funded by the school for that. but if you are trying to get a BA/BS from an american school, then you're going to have to pay out of pocket for that or get a loan. the only other option would be to apply for some sort of scholarship, but you would be at a disadvantage because you aren't an american. many scholarships are specifically for american students and are based on need or winning some kind of contest, like best essay, etc.

The only suggestion I would have is to pick out some universities and colleges and call or email them. I imagine that most universities would be like the one I am at and have an International Office for helping foreign students like you. The one at my university (Washington State Univ.) is very helpful and they are very experienced with just your kind of questions.

I think your idea is great -- go for it!

I doubt you can get federal aid in the States because you don't pay taxes here. Surely there are decent design schools in Canada.
