Well, technically, you should do a good deed for it's own sake. Not to go to heaven, or avoid hell. That's what makes it good.

All deeds have consequences. Good or bad is another matter.

Sometimes it does seem that way.
At times, I have done something, that I've considered to be a 'good deed', and then I wind up getting flack for it.
So, if you do a 'good deed' consider that probably no one will thank you for it, and you just might get some opposition for doing your good deed. But do the 'good deed' anyway.

Why would a GOOD DEED deserve PUNISHMENT?

I think that what you meant to ask is:

"Do you believe no BAD deed goes unpunished"
OR
"Do you believe no GOOD deed goes unnoticed"

I believe that is a negative way to look at it, I think a good deed gets rewarded but it isn't counted. Similar to your work when you don't receive praise for doing good but you get ripped for doing something wrong.

If your good deed was punished, then perhaps it wasn't such a good deed? It's important to consider other perspectives before deeming something good or bad.

Sometimes, and sometimes, not. That's when I fell that I've gotten away with something and almost feel guilty about it. I feel almost too lucky so far....
But don't say anything.
