so much offense at what people call us, rather than what people do to us. If somebody accuses you of being a certain way, that shouldn't bother because it is the opinion and thus, open to error. But what somebody does to you is genuine and real. It cannot be denied. So why waste time getting worked up over what somebody says about you?

its the emotional aspect of what a person says to you versus what a person does to you! Emotions unfortunately play a large role in all life decisions!

Some words offend, some can hurt a person's reputation, some shouldn't bother a person, what ever the case may be, words can have more power behind them than we think. In my opinion it really depends on who the words are coming from. A stranger calling me a whore would not offend me because they don't know me, now the same thing coming from my mother would effect me emotionally. A stranger on the street calling me a ni***r would not hurt me, however my Caucasian friend of 17 years saying it would sting quite a bit. So I guess to me words only have power when we give them that power. Why we do that is all about emotions, strengths, and weaknesses.

true actions speak louder than words. but there are many things we are in denial about. so if someone else notices it and says it aloud it's like a wakeup call. and you get self conscience. actions aren't always good though. words hurt worse than actions. my father was abusive and what i remember most are the words he said to me and the names he called me. the physical pain goes away with time but the emotional scars take forever to go away.
