What you're saying is 100% true!
I always tell other black people that I meet that have gone through this, when people say "Oh s/he thinks s/he's white", they have no clue what they're really saying.
Look at some of the situations in which people say this to you and you will see ultimately they are saying: Oh s/he thinks s/he's human.
It's sad, but the blacks that say this to you have actually bought into the racist propaganda that says we, black people, are not human or subhuman. It's sad, but I've been keeping a journal since my high school days and looking back people were telling me "How dare you think you're human".
I can't get over the people denying that this occurs they remind me of those parents that tell their molested kids to shut up and say nothing happened. Give me an effin' break.
Like Malcolm X said: We catch hell.
Even white people can't make up their mind which way THEY want US to be.
If we do the ignorant thug thing, we catch hell.
If we assimilate and try to be "respectable" citizens, we catch hell, cause this darkie thinks s/he's white/human.
Don't give up the fight.
Nobody is going to limit me and try to define me for me, I get to do that, not anyone else.

Perhaps we are not from the same Black community. I hear this crap all the time and have never found it to be true. The Blacks I have encountered, rich, poor, young, old, educated, uneducated support and respect growth and achievement..you seem to ignore the fact that many people who have not had the advantage of education or who do not talk "properly" are some of the very people who offered and continue to offer support and encouragement for Blacks who have accomplished a number of things. Many a parent who you would label as "talking poorly" held 3 or 4 jobs to support their children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews while they pursued an education or another important goal. Not to forget the instances in which the neighborhood, got together and gathered a little this and a little that so a kid in the community could go to prom or college....this idea of being looked down upon by the Black community for being an achiever is a bunch of Bogus Propaganda. It is a popular theme in these stupid TV shows and movies, but does not hold up in real life.

if u act how everybody surrounding u than there is no color difference outside of 'da hood'. if you put urself into societies view, as a respectful and presentable person than u become more 'people friendly' and easily approachable. in the hood u just act how everyone around u acts too. black is black no matta where ur from or where ur at. all it really is is ur surroundings.

Black America does not seem to appreciate an educated black man these days unless it's someone like 2pac. I think most black people value money, "hoes", grills, and "ice" more than they value good morals and education. These are ideals adopted by black people through the whole hip hop thing.

because society has described us as ignorant, thugs who dont know how to speak and be good parents. if we do it the way they say we should then we become sell outs. it is a mind game that society plays with those who allow it. what it all boils down to is accepting who you are and being proud of yourself. be you and do you.

Perhaps it happens with some blacks who have low self-esteems. But most of them are probably not like that.
