If you had a simple regression and the variable turns out to be significant, and then you add another variable and afterwards it turns out that the variable is not significance anymore, what could have caused this, ASIDE from the variable being redundant? Overall, what can impact the significance of variables other than them being irrelevant or redundant? Thanks

maybe there is something wrong with test to had conducted that yields a wrong result.

i'm not saying that your test is not correct.

It's just that it is not impossible that we commit errors in testing.

remember the type I and II error in hypothesis testing.

maube the calculated and tabular value of your test has almost the same value.
so it may suddenly falls under or above it.

It means that there's some interaction effect. There are some ways to handle these. I'm using R for a class that I'm taking. It's a free version of S-plus, which I have no familiarity with.

Anyways, interaction effects is what you're seeing.
