Despair is hoplessness Rage is focus. They do not walk together, but have the potential to trigger the other into action.

Very far apart. Rage is still fighting to survive. Despair is giving up all hope.

Rage is uncontrolleble Anger

Despair is exessive sadness ,worry or hopelessness
