I would look up a term called "search engine optimization". You will find out how to force organic results. Metadata, keyword frequency and keyword research are key. I use to do this at my last job. I brought my company from 50 to top 5 in Google and Yahoo. It's quite amazing how such little changes to the code and metadata can increase traffic so much.
Other methods is to get your address in popular sites, such as myspace, craigslist, spread the word.

personally, i think spending couple of dollars on adv. is worth it.
look at www.apomontage.com , not famous ads site, but a famous graphics site, so why not advertising there.
I chose apomontage.com as example coz of the low prices.. check them out and if u want u can try a month and see the difference .. they get millions, so let the millions see ur site.
