My son needs 'dark' background music for a film project he's doing. It needs to be all instrumental. There's one specific song I think he should use but I can't remember what its called. I believe its in Fantasia. but I can't remember what its called. Does anyone know what song I'm talking about, or of any other 'dark' instrumental songs?

One of the best dark songs ever is a classical piece called "In the Hall of The Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg. You will recognize it as soon as you hear it, and will probably say this is what you want. here is a sample place to get an idea of what it sounds like. http://www.classical.net/music/audio/midi/grieg/hallmountainking.mid

Look up songs from the band Apocalyptica
All they're songs are dark instrumentals and they do a lot of Metallica covers as well.

Tubular Bells was an instrumental hit in the 1970's

It was from the Exorcist Movie.

That should be dark enough for you.

Look for a group called 'Arcana'. There is one that is a jazz group, not them. Albums by them like 'Dark Age of Reason' are full of dark, moody ambient music. Very nice. Also, there is another group called 'Nox Arcana' that does similar stuff, but even more 'horror movie' in nature.
