one of my friends has the same problem and has gone as far as covering all her fingertips with bandaids! she just bought a product called "no bite" that is a clear nailpolish that tastes extremely bitter! she got me to paint one nail with it and taste it -- it was awful. so check it out! i'm sure it wasn't more than $5.
good luck! happy holidays.

There is a remedial clear nail polish made just for this problem. It coats your nail, but its not the same as real clear nail polish. It leaves you with this horrbily disgustingly bitter taste in your mouth every time you try and bite.
I found this out because I saw the polish on my boss's desk while at work. She let me use it, but little did I know what it was. The moment I put my nail in my mouth, I tasted that awful bitter polish. Boy did it work.
I would reccommend if you havent already tried it. Good luck.

I have been biting my nails for as long as I can remember. I tried painting them clear (I'm a guy), but that did not work. Even when I tried to stop, I would catch myself biting them!!! So I just learned to live with it, and not bite until I bleed.
So just go with it, if you stop biting, you will have to start clipping, and that takes longer and is not as enjoyable as biting.

Well,I also do that....but I think I don't anymore....I get rid off it.....may mom always tell me to stop....but I can't.....so what I did is I controlled myself everytime I almost do that...then it works....I always put in my mind that whenever I do that is that it's not a girl thing....like it is so growse that if any body who'll see it will say "Is your nail cutter lost? What you are doing is yuck!"....see...and if you forgot that your in a public place and can't stop it...then many will be turned off....I know my explanation is a little bit you know....messy...'cauz I can't concentrate because I'm doing something but I want to answer ur question...that's why...but I hope you'll understand what i'm saying.....so goodluck and may your hobby be gone!!!haha.....

trust me. i had the same bad habbit and so does my sister. i used to put tape or socks over my hands but that was too imberassing, so i tried to stop. whenever you feel like biting your nails start to eat something. sometimes i paint my nails so that if you bite them, then you get the taste of nailpolish-and that tastes DISGUSTING!!! so i hope those tips help you a little bit.

If you don't want your nails to bleed again, just kick off the bad habbit. You can go jogging or cycling and forget about this biting habit.

It sounds like you may need to find something to occupy your time. When do you usually bite? What is the reason for biting? How is your social life? Are you enjoying school and the environment that you are in?

paint them with clear polish every morning or night - so it tastes crappy but you dont have to worry about the chipping or smudging that you do with colored polish. also, try giving yourself a goal - like, if i make it 3 days without biting my nails at all i get my favorite food or some other treat.

Use nail biter. You can buy it just about anywhere. The stuff tastes horrible. You could also try nail hardener.

Paint a layer of clear coat. That tastes nasty so im sure that will help prevent you from chewing them. Chew sugarless gum instead.
