sorry if this sounds like a broken record but seriously, it's garbage! the giants game, perfect example. Kiwanuka obviously was capable of making that tackle which (most likely) would've sealed the game for the giants. defensive players are forced to not play up to their potential because they're scared of being called for a penalty.

do u think the nfl will modify the rule next season?

Hell yes, it's way beyond "getting out of hand". And yes, teams are losing games. The Giants example you quoted is one of them.

Also, the Bengals lost a game to Tampa Bay on a phantom roughing the passer call by referee Mike Carey. And as if that's not bad enough, the league subsequently said that Mike Carey had their "full support", which I assume means they agreed with the call. I would GUARANTEE that I could find no fewer than 50 plays over the course of the year that were NOT called roughing the passer, that an objective panel would find more deserving of a roughing the passer penalty, than that play.

The worst part of the whole thing is that it makes me question the desire of the league to maintain the appearance of its officials' integrity. The outcome of the games should NOT depend on who happens to be the referee for your game.

As to your question of modifying the rules next season, they'd sure as hell better modify it. I think they are getting dangerously close to alienating fans and turning them off completely. Again, the outcome of the games should NOT depend on who happens to be the referee for your game

Bunch of pansies...I think they should let all players stand flat footed and let the others run at them full speed and hit them upside the head as hard as they can or hit them in the knee while it's locked...

Lets see, you can't even touch a damn wide receiver any more, whatever you do don't block below the waist on kickoffs or punts...An offensive lineman who falls down and touches a defensive linemans legs gets a 15 yd personal foul penalty...Etc-Etc-Etc!!!

Yep them QB's are a bunch of lame pu**y's now a days...LOL

Well just look at the qb's of today. Although they are good atheletes they are weak crybabies. You put them on their asses a couple of time they are up crying like a baby. You look at some of the older qb's like Elway look at some of the licks he has took and how long he played. Marino,Cunningham,Farve just to name a few were some tough qb's what you have today are a couple of pretty boys wanting to sit back and look pretty in the pocket throwing a pass and not get hurt. This is a contact sport if they can't handle it then play flag football or baseball.

I think it's time to make penalty calls reviewable. Roughing and interference calls sometimes need to be looked into.

Jack Lambert said it best years ago & it's gone downhill ever since. He said that the QB's should be wearin' dresses!

It's gotten ridiculous. You can't even breathe on quarterbacks now.

But they won't change the rules because quarterbacks are their money makers.
