I am nervous about something coming up in about a month. Any ideas to help me stop worrying for the next month?

Keep busy with a full schedule. If you are productive, you will generally feel better about everything. If you have too much idle time, you may end up ruminating about things you can't control anyway.

Be sure to exercise, get enough sleep, and eat healthy. I think sleep is the most necessary... if you're tired or can't rest well, your mind will never be in "rational land!" Make sure to make some time for blowing off steam and a little pampering here and there wouldn't hurt (i.e., massages, pedicures, you know... ).
And talk to someone that you trust... just vent a little and get it out. By speaking about it, you'll gain a bit more sense of yourself and your feelings. Talking it out with friends is always good for decision making and getting support.

Well, you don't give many details but try putting things in perspective. What's the worst that can happen? Remember that, most likely, others have gone through the same and survived it. It's possible that you're nervous because it's important. If that's the case, prepare well. Be ready and do what you can during this month to be physically and mentally prepared. Stay focused and remember that in the scheme of things this one event may not be such a big deal after all. Don't sweat the small stuff and prepare will for the big stuff. Good luck.

Hello Tiffany C : Man, can I relate exactly to this ! First of all, relax ... this is just a part of your own character/personality make-up. I love singing too, and playing acoustic guitar. But, I do it as one of my own hobbies. I used to play drums and do a small amount of singing with about 5 different rock bands throughout the 60's. Most of my singing and guitar-playing is done (ALONE !) at home. So, when someone asks, "Pick up your guitar and sing us a song," I get immediately nervous ... just like you ! We're nervous because we don't perform often enough in front of a crowd. Here's Your Answer :- (1) Sing as often as you can for your family members. Make them gather around and listen to your singing. You'll probably find that they provide a lot of feedback ... mostly criticism ... but, that's O.K. At least they listened ! When you become comfortable singing for your family ... PROGRESS ! (2) start singing in front of as many FRIENDS as possible. Once again, friends will probably be just as critical as your family. Please don't let that stop you ! AND (3) you'll have to schedule an actual job somewhere for yourself. Sing solo in your church. Read the 'Help Wanted' ads for bands looking for a lead singer. Be prepared with all your songs memorized. So ... start small and progress until you're entertaining the world !

First jot down things to do in the next month and how you have to deal with them. Preparation than mere anticipation is the trick to ward off nervousness. You are lucky for forewarned is half harmed and well armed and you won half the battle. But prepare for the worst and you pass the thing like a breeze.
You know the secret of healthy people. They are prepared for any eventuality and are in constant readiness to break the routine and ready to face strange circumstances (though not in them exactly) and mentally adaptable. This trait boosts one's health. Be nervous in a healthy way.

To stop worrying, I would suggest gettting active, do some exercise, surround yourself with people you love and spending time doing things that you enjoy. Deep breathing, yoga and relaxation can also help.

Think about the worst that could happen - and work out ways to cope/prevent this. Is it really the end of the world if it doesn't go as planned?

Then think of the best that could happen - and get excited about the possibilities!

If it's something that you can prepare for, practice it. For example, if you have to give a speech in front of your class, practice the speech while looking in the mirror. Remember practice, makes perfect. Once you are comfortable with yourself it will not be as nerve racking.

Maybe exercise will help you - it will release endorphins and help you sleep.
