Ok, so I know a lot of people that play video games for fun every now and then..some even play regularly but limit their time to an hour or so at each session. What do you think of people that spend more than a few hours each day playing video games? Are they wasting their lives and their health being unproductive and lazy? Or is playing video games like any other hobby and, thus, something that people should do whenever they feel like it? Sometimes I see these guys who work to basically afford paying for video games...isn't that a little bit out of whack?

I think people like that are addicted, just like you can be addicted to alcohol, smoking or gambling. While it's probably not the healthiest activity sitting on your butt all day playing games, there are far worse things they could be obsessed with like drugs.

I think it's a hell of a lot better than people who spend their entire paychecks on harmful habits like alcohol or drugs.
I can spend an entire Saturday playing games. I can also spend an entire Saturday running around town, running errands. Or I can spend it with my family. Or I can spend several days playing games.
I don't see it any different from people who devote their lives to working out or working on a car.
It's not that I'm wasting my life or my health. It's not that I'm unproductive or lazy (ok, well, I'm lazy, but not all the time). I simply enjoy it, and I don't think anyone else needs to be worried about it if the person is enjoying it.

i think you have answerd your own quesiton lol!!! but its just that !!:" a game " thats like any other game or sport lol the differenece is your using your brain and mind versus any other body part!! like football or soccer!! people who play video games tend to be very intelligent people !! as for being lazy......and unproductive......yes i agree anything over 3 hrs i think is not good or healthy! my dads liek that he can play a video game for 9 hrs straight at a time!!! but you gotta consider these peoples life styles to....are they workaholics? aer they married or have kids?do they have a social life?, are they hermits? do they prefer to be unsocial with people?, do they not have any firiends or family? do they seem to give off bad energy vibes? do they just seem like the type o fpeople no one wants to be around? are they always negitve? if thats the case then yeah they need to get some serious mental help soon!!! and yes if there spending all hter money on video games then yes !!! they have issues whic means they are making bad finacial choices!!! so before you judge them!! just look at everything and then make a good informed desicion! soem people play them to relive stress others it just like a hobby !! using my dad as an exmaple...hes a bachlor and doenst plan on geting married and hes a simple minded perosn, and hes 55 so.....he has no life !!! other then work !! and thats where he feels comfortable at when he splaying his games becuase there hes enjoying his life! well hope this helps when ever i go to his place hes always playing games lol!every ones different thoug and all of us hae thigns we love more then others wehter its palying a video game,playing sports,reading a book ect! we all have our own passions!!

I agree that people who are playing video games everyday, all day long are setting themselves up to be anti-socials and depressed. Plus the fact that obesity is a major problem today and looking at the computer or TV screen all day puts a strain on the eyes. I like playing video games myself but at the same time we need to be balanced. Go outside & play a sport, read a book, go visit a friend

People that play video games religiously are completely addicted, and it is difficult to get out of that addiction. In moderation, video games are not a bad thing. Just like Yahoo Answers :)
You are right - it is pretty bad when those people work just to buy video games. I knew a guy from work who sometimes "called in sick" so he could play his video games. That's pathetic! These examples are cases when it has gone too far.
