I'm 39 weeks pregnant and the doctor stripped my membranes this morning. I had been feeling cramping for a few days now and even had some actually contractions last Saturday for a couple hours. After the procedure I had some stronger cramping so I followed with walking the mall for an hour and a half and sex... After that I saw some mucus with a few drops of blood.
After a nap I'm no longer feeling the cramping. :(
About how much longer will all of this take?? Any suggestions on getting this started any sooner?

PS. I'm 1cm dialated, and the baby has dropped already.

My membranes were stripped twice and nothing came of it. When my midwife did it, I was 1 cm dialated and 40% effaced the first time, on my due date. The second time was a week later, at 1 cm and 70%. 4 days later, I went to the hospital to be induced.

With my son, I lost part of my plug the day after the first stripping, and the rest over the next two weeks. He never dropped or anything, and we found out that he was breech at the hospital (something I had long suspected). I think that is why stripping my membranes and everything else made no difference as to me going into labor.

My sister in law had her's stripped and she had her daughter within 48 hours. She was 2 cm and 50%, with the plug gone and the baby having dropped.

Both of us were pregnant with our first.

Good luck and congratulations!

I went into exertions interior 12 hours of the nurse on the medical institution stripping my membranes. I also had GBS, and there have been not any complications in any respect. I purely had to have antibiotics through the exertions and shipping.

Stripping of membranes is no where near 100% effective sorry my OB told me it only works for 40% of women! Also I was also told by my OB once your membranes have been striped o no longer have sex due to infection risk!! I had mine stripped 3x did not work, was induced with pitocin 3 days later

I had mine stripped at about 11.30am, had show at about 5.pm and went into full on labour at 8.30pm (contractions 1 to 2 minutes apart)and had baby at 12 40am. I hope its this simple for you. This was my first baby.

I really dont think it will be long, I think you should try and rest. Just incase its a long labour.
