The skin and all of its associated structures such as hair, nails, sweat glands, oil glands, sensory receptors etc. are collectively considered an organ. Your skin is actually the largest organ in your body. It has a surface area of about 1.5 to 2 square meters and makes up about 7 percent of your total body weight.

Skin is an organ. It is called Jack of all trades because it serves the function of protection, nutrition, respiration( in amphibians), excretion etc. It is made up of two germ layers: ectoderm and mesoderm. Ectoderm forms epidermis whose derivatives are sebaceous glands, sudorific glands, and hair. Dermis is formed by the mesoderm. So skin is a compound organ, as it is derived from two germ layers and that is why it is called ecto-mesodermal.
