Do you have a library nearby? I have found a number of books for teens and tweens that will help to answer your question by helping you to evalutate your skills on what you CAN do rather than think about things you can't do. The following books are in my library's collection and surely there are many others out there. Talk to your Librarian and then read, read, read. You will not only get inspiration but will learn the "how tos." At 12 you cannot get a paid job but that doesn't mean you should give up hope. It won't be easy to find what you're best at and don't be afraid to make mistakes along the way. The information in these books (and others) will help you make much more than $300 for an Xbox but will offer you life changing experiences. Here is a partial list:
Fast Cash for Kids … Bonnie & Noel Drew
Better than a Lemonade Stand … Daryl Bernstein
50 Money Making Ideas for Kids … Lauree & L Allen Burkett
Jobs for Kids … Carol Barkin & Elizabeth James
The Kids’ Business Book … Arlene Erlbach
Making Cents … Elizabeth Wilkinson
Make More Money Than Your Parents … Mike Bundlie and Others
How to Be a Teenage Millionaire … Art Beroff

depending on where you live, there is can be seasonal work around your neighbor's houses. If you are experiencing fall weather (leaves on the ground, cool nights and shorter days) you can probably knock on your neighbors door (hopefully you have met them before) and see if they have any "chores" around the house that could be done for a fee. Depending on where you live, some families are very generous to kids who are motivated to work and help out.
Another idea would be to get a paper route. When i was 10-12, i got a paper route that let me deliver in the mornings before school. i made pretty good money and enjoyed it because it let me get to know the neighbors well enough to continue asking them if there was anything that i could help them with, which then led to more opportunities to make money. its about asking to help, not just asking for money. if you don't ask, you shall not receive.

Be careful of the online surveys as they may want someones bank details, dont give anyone your bank details.
School holidays are almost here.
Water restrictions = wash cars. I reckon do a really good job might take an hour = $10.
30 cars x 10 = $300.

Pull weeds, Rake Leaves, Wash cars, Shovel snow, clean up garbage. These are a few ways to make money. Make a deal and agree to a $ amount before you do the work or you may not get paid.

Well with that attitude you will never get your money. Honestly, what does a 12 year old need 300 bucks for? It sounds like you can't do anything other than steal the money or hope someone drops it in your lap...not going to happen.
Go collect some cans.

My 12 year old daughter makes cookies and sells them at school. I help her wrap them. I know you don't want to hear this but walking neighbors dog or offering to pick up poop in the yard, washing cars all are good ideas to make money and you can do them on the weekend so it wont inter fear with school, just be creative and stay focus.
