I think it's great that you got into a sorority. It all seems pointless(hazing, that is) to me because once you're a member of a fraternity or a sorority, then chances are the only thing you should do is just take the oath.
However, I'm no authority on this since I'm not in one because I didn't attend a university where I had the opportunity to join one. I went to a 2 year college instead where the only fraternity/sorority that they had was one where you had to have a high grade point average and were an honor student there. I never really saw the point in joining one anyhow, mainly because I'm too cool for one.

Hazing can be just a harmless ritual sometimes but the next generation sometimes tries to outdo the previous generation and when that continues then it can just get out of hand. Then BOOM! Someone looses a hand. Not necessarily but the point is things can be taken too far. The problem is if you want to get out of it but everyone else is subjecting themselves to it, then it is really hard to say no, this is too much for me.
If a sorority goes by hazing then there probably should be some sort of doctrine, say how the ritual shall go, to prevent people perverting the original intent of the hazing, which is to try and create new and strong bonds rather then humiliating people for your own amusement.

I was in a sorority also but that was over 20 years ago and the hazing ritual has come a long way from scrubbing statues with toothbrushes, wearing mismatched clothes and not washing your hair. Today, sororities have initiations where the girls have to sck guys and sleep with them and sometimes more than one. This to me is beyond loyalty issues and represents whorehouses instead of sorority houses. Fraternities beating guys to the point of dying- or drinking to the point of alcohol poisoning--- too much, way too much.

hazing is really messed up and stupid
at our high school, during the summer, the upcoming seniors go out at night and find the upcoming freshman and paddle the hell out of their asses. its really stupid because kids can get seriously hurt. some went home with bruises, and can't move for a week. its become so serious that the police in our town got involved. i think you should forget about hazing before something unexpected happens.

when in school i was in the band we had alot of foot ball players who also played drums. They hazed everyone that came into the band as a freshman. It was harmless fun but it was hazing none the less. I think as long as nobody gets hurt i think its cool

It depends on what type of hazing. If it's beatings and stuff, I'm against it. But if it's just retarded stuff that you have to do (without breaking the law) I say go for it. It's your choice. ^_^
