i have a science paper due tomorrow but i have no idea what blackouts are. i have a little info but im still very confused. i just need to know why they happen.

btw i mean the electrical kind not mental

blackouts are an overload of the power grid, that causes the grid to completely shut down to save itself from destruction. They can also happen as a result of damage to the grid, i.e. downed power lines, etc. You cannot store energy, you can only produce it. So if the demand exceeds the production, the grid blackouts out. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Blackouts are failure of the electrical grid, usually locally, to provide electricity. They can result from downed power lines, transformer failures, local grid overloads, and/or lightning strikes. dependent on the damage suffered by the system the duration can be from barely noticeable to days.

A black out is also a power failure
in a big storme if a big power line goes down and a city is without power for a while it a blackout

usually storms knock down power lines and shut out the power to certain grids... or sometimes, the power has to be shut off because of the reactor area becoming flooded... well good luck wiith your paper huh ?
