-4(x+3)>=20 & x-5< -2
-4x-12 >= 20 & x < 5-2
-4x >= 20+12 & x < 3
-4x >= 32 & x < 3
x >= -8 & x< 3
-8 <= x < 3
(x lies between -8 and 3)

-4(x+3)>=20
-4x-12>=20
-4x>=32
(when passing the -4 to the other side of the inequality you should change the direction of the inequality sign because you are dividing over a negative number)

x<=-32/4

-4(x+3) ≥ 20 or x-5 < -2

Distribute the -4 in the first part:
-4x-12 ≥ 20

Add 12 to both sides:
-4x ≥ 32

Remember to flip the direction of the ≥ when dividing by a negative number:
x ≤ -8

OR:
(other side)

x-5 < -2

Add 5 to both sides:
x < 3

So, x ≤ -8 or x < 3. Since anything less than or equal to -8 is automatically less than 3, you don't need the first part, so your answer is x < 3.

simplified first unequality
-4 (x + 3) >= 20
x + 3 >= -5
x >= -8

next, simplify second unequality
x - 5 < -2
x < 3

So x must be somewhere between -8 and 3. In other word, x greater and equal than -8 and less than 3. In mathematical we can write as
-8<= x < 3

i hope this can be helpfull

-4(x+3)>=20 or x+3 <= -5 or x<=-8; remember when you multiple by a negative number both sides, then you have to change the direction of the inequality

x-5 < -2 or x<3

show work :
-4(x+3) > 20 :divide each side by -4

x+3 > 20 : subtract 3 from both sides

x> 17 there ! although as u said, > is equal or greater sign

second problem..

x-5 < -2 : add 5 to both sides

x < 3 there!

hope this helped

I think this is how it goes:
-4(x+3)<20 divide both sides by -4, but when you do this, change the way the sign is pointing whenever you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number.
So now (x+3) > -5
subtract 3 from both sides and get x > -8.
For the second part (x-5) < -2.
Add 5 to both sides to get x by itself like the first problem.
So x < 3

-4(x+3)>20
First distribute the -4 and get -4x-12>20
Then add 12 to both sides and get -4x>32
Then divide by -4 and get x>-8

x-5<-2
Add 5 to both sides and get x<3

-4(x=3)>20
-4x-12>20
-4x>20+12
-4x/-4>32/-4
x>=-8

x-5<-2
x<3
