No, I like the idea, but it doesn't really make sense phonetically. There's nothing between the 'r' and 'k', so you're actually missing the "ih" sound for Eric. It just looks like the word 'air' but with a k on the end. I've seen Aaron (which has the same sound as Eric) spelled Ahren. Maybe you could try Ahrek or Ahrik. I also think it may cause too many problems if you are too outlandish with the spelling, he'll constantly be correcting people since I've never really heard of anything except Eric or Erik.

maybe Airek but not Airk...that looks confusing. But I would only use that spelling for a girl. Eric would be the way to go, I do like the name Eric. I once saw it spelled Aireque and I thought it was just rediculous. Some people go do far!

no, no, no, do you want him to have to explain his name every day of school and work for the next 90 years? The teacher will say Ark when she calls roll. Eric is good, but please not the other. A neighbor named her child Nilan and all the kids call him Nylon. The same would happen all his life.

No...if you want to name the kid Eric...name him Eric.
This isn't a puppy...it's a freakin human being that will one day be 50 and will be saddled with a stupid spelling of a reasonable name.
Please think about your child as a grown man.

I've got to tell you I immediately thought to pronounce this as Eric. I went to college with and work with an Aric. I will admit that until I came across him I thought it was weird to spell Eric with an A.
I definitely think it's unique. I like it. However, if you name your son Airk he will forever have to spell his name to everyone.

from looking at it, it looks like its pronounced Air-k(like the k in kangaroo) not eric. there are other spellings of eric if your leaning in that direction though. or keep what you have but add another i to it like airik, or you could do aaric, aarik, airic, airick, aarick, etc. i like the name spelled with an a at the beginning.

I agree, it will always be mispronounced. Arik is a nice looking name.
I have a theory about Ariks. (Eric, Erik, Arik) I've never met one that wasn't either very handsome or talented, or both. Any way you spell it, you've got a good thing going.

Why do people insist on wierd spellings for names? It just dooms the kid to the aggrivation of correcting everyone he ever meets and makes the parents seem like uneducated hicks. Sorry, just my opinion.
