I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but what you fail to realize is that what you heard, is not what I meant.

I understand that you think you know what I believe about what you said, at least that's what I'm hearing, but I can assure you that I really have no idea whatsoever what you mean, nor do I harbor any delusions of understanding. You may start over any time you feel that you can explain more fully.

Well , I have heard this before ,

and it depends on who would say this to me.
Some times ( a lot of times ) people do not explain themselves well , and then turn around and blame the other person for not understanding them.

and then of course you could be dealing with someone who loves to turn , and twist things around.

I believe it is a very clever phrase , but at the same time not a very nice one. Also because of what I have stated above.
