The only thing is: if you're not careful, you may break the wrist strap and send the Wiimote flying. That's it.

Sweaty palms = bad the wiimote will hold up to a lot but your window / tv / pda / laptop / ceiling fan, wont withstand the wiimote. There is an issue with some type of error code, cant recall it offhand but from what i can recall its like a virus and immobilizes the system. But Nintendo will replace if you get that code.
Some problems with the Wii 24/7 and the wii store. but other than those wii launch has gone really well.

Be sure to use the wrist straps on the remotes.
Lit candles, Christmas lights, and mirror-like surfaces (such as a glass coffee table) can interfere with the pointing sensor. You can adjust the sensor sensitivity in the console settings, but you might still need to blow out the candles and turn off the christmas lights before playing.
Some units are defective, just like any other product (especially new electronics). I only point this out because in this day and age every single one of those .1% of people with defective units writes about it on the internet, which can make the problem seem much more widespread than it actually is.

Your best bet is to do an online search to see if anyone's been experiencing some Wii problems. (See the first source I've listed.)
I've heard some complaints about people accidentally breaking their TVs while playing with the Wii, as the wiimote can slip out of your hands if you're not careful. Wiihaveaproblem.com has some more information on that.

it might force you to excersize and you might break the tv or a window with the wii mote. And you also have to be careful, it is addicting i hear. Some people are going to rehab for it.

The wrist straps break. Find a way to reinforce them. Lots of broken laptop screen, tv's, ect...not cool!
Do a yahoo search and you'll pull up pics!
